LATAM Readies To Stretch Its Wings And Fly To Antofagasta

5th Jul 2015

Judging by developments involving Chile and Peru’s transport and trade sectors, it appears that both aren’t affected at all by the recent outcome of the Copa America semifinals competition where Chile outdid Peru.

LATAM recently announced plans to conduct direct flights between Lima and the port city of Antofagasta.

Antofagasta is Chile’s second biggest region and is home to some major copper mining industries. Globally, Chile is the leader in copper production.

LAN Airline’s current GM, Gonzalo Undurruga expressed optimism that the new flight route will contribute to the growth of both regions.

A team-up between LAN of Chile and TAM of Brazil, LATAM expects to fly this new route three times in a week starting end of this year.

Apart from boosting trade and commerce in both regions, LATAM foresees that adding this new route will help transform Lima, Peru into a travel hub especially for those flying to and from South America and other regions.
