LAN Airlines To Operate First A321 IN December18th Aug 2014
LAN Airlines will take delivery of its first A321 aircraft next month, which it will be deployed mainly on domestic routes. The A321-200 variant will have a seating capacity of up to 212 on a single-class, all-economy configuration.
The carrier is planning to put the jetliner into service on December 29 this year, on routes between the capital and key destinations across the country.
The planned domestic routes from Santiago de Chile Int'l include Antofagasta, Arica, Calama, Copiapó Desierto de Atacama, Concepción, Iquique, Punta Arenas via Puerto Montt Int'l, and Temuco La Araucanía.
A fleet of 9 more medium-range narrow-body jetliner is scheduled for deliveries from this year until 2016.
LAN Airlines has a current fleet of 145 aircraft, more than two-thirds of which consist mostly of smaller variants of the narrow-body A320 family - twenty-six A319-100s and seventy-two A320-200s.
The state-owned carrier currently flies to 66 destinations from its hub in Santiago de Chile, 32 of which are international and 34 domestic.
