LAN Airlines' Dreamliner Debuts On A Santiago-Miami Route12th Aug 2014
The inaugural service of the wide-body twin-engine Dreamliner by LAN Airlines makes it the first carrier in the Americas to operate the new-generation B787, which is touted as the world's most fuel-efficient aircraft to date.
The Dreamliner inaugural flight was launched on August 9 which also marks the first time such airliner serves Miami.
LAN Airlines is the largest of the LATAM Airlines Group, which also include LAN Argentina, LAN Colombia, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru, and LAN Express.
Pablo Chiozza, the airline's Senior Vice President for USA, Canada, and the Caribbean regions, was excited about the inaugural service of the Dreamliner on the Santiago-Miami route saying they are committed to providing their customers utmost comfort, while helping curb the carbon footprint through the use of the fuel-efficient aircraft such as the B787 family.
He further said that they always consider the impact of the environment with their operations without sacrificing the customers' welfare at any stage of their travel, from ground up.
LAN Airlines' fleet of Dreamliner is configured to accommodate a total of 247 seats, 217 of which are allotted to economy class and 30 to premium business class.
The airline was a launch customer of the B787 Dreamliner in the Americas when it placed an order of 32 aircraft from Boeing Company in 2012 worth $4.9 billion.
