Jetstar Airway, an affiliate of Qantas, has signed a codeshare agreement with LAN Airlines, a member of LATAM Airlines Group. This will supplement the current deal between Qantas and LAN Airlines and will boost the network between Oceania and South America.
Per the new agreement, LAN Airlines guests will be able to access 15 new cities Jetstar has in its offer for Australia and NZ. LAN is also looking to further strengthen the partnership by introducing international services between Oceania and Southeast Asia.
Soledad Berrios, Vice President of Strategic Alliances for LATAM Airlines Group said the following about the partnership with Jetstar:
The new agreement, which strengthens the existing relationship between LAN Airlines and Jetstar Airways, expands our network of tourist destination in Oceania and allows our passengers to connect from Sydney and Auckland to attractive destinations in the region.
The codeshare agreement between Jetstar Airways and LAN Airlines will allow the later passengers to fly from Santiago in Chile to a total of 15 destinations in Australia and New Zealand and will, in addition, grow the connectivity between Oceania and South America.
The partnership between the two airlines will further improve the connection from Auckland to several top destinations in Australia, including Melbourne and Gold Coast. As for New Zealand, passengers will now be able to fly between Auckland and several other cities (Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown and Wellington). In Australia, on the other hand, the codeshare agreement will link Sydney to Byron Bay, Cairns, Darwin, Hamilton Island, Hobart, Sunshine Coast and several other cities.
The codeshare agreement also enables LAN Airlines travelers to buy a single ticket to a number of destinations and win KM LANPASS for all Jetstar Airways flights covered by the agreement via any of LAN Airlines sales channels.
